GUY UNROE TAKES OWN LIFE AT HOME OF JULIUS B PEAVEY..
Domestic troubles said to be Responsible for the act: tried reconciliation. Purchased Stychnine today at local Pharmacy: Met sons at school..
Guy Unroe, aged 30, a well known resident of this city, is dead by his own hand, having taken a dose of Stychnine at the home of Mr and Mrs J.B. Peavey, 199 east Perkins street, shortly before noon today. Mrs Unroe, who has been residing with her parents, expressed surprise when her husband, together with their two sons, Leonard 9, Richard 8 , whom he had met at school walking into the home where she was preparing the noonday meal. It was alleged that Mrs Unroe had just instituted divorce action and his visit was made in effort to effect a reconsiliation. Mrs Unroe, when interviewed, said that Guy asked that she drop the divorce action, and she replied that she did not beleive they could ever get along, asking him to let the quistion drop for the time being that she might continue her work. Unroe's last words to her were: Well I bought this poison this morning and I guess I'll take it, " and produced a phial which he had purchased at a local pharmacy, stating that he wanted if to kill a dog. He immediately left the kitchen and entered an adjoining bedroom. The first known of his act was the commotion which attracted the attention of the family, and on investigation he was found struggling in the throes of the deadly potion. Realizing that his threat of a few moments previous was now a grim reality, Dr Hatton was called, but his efforts to overcome the effects of the poison were futile, and Unroe died a short time after his arrival. Coroner Chas Keep and Undersheriff Michlatcha were called and after investigation decided that no inquest was necessary. Guy Unroe was a member of the A.E.F. and saw considerable action with the 119th Field Artillary. he received several wounds while in the service. His passing leaves the wife and two smalls sons, his mother Mrs Paul Unroe and brother Carl, residing at 67 Hooker st, two sisters Mrs Flossie Greenwald, 48 east washington st, and Mrs Bernie Verna ( typo ? ) of Grand Rapids. ------------------------
