Earl L. Malson, 77, of 18th Street, died at 4:12 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2003, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
He worked in sales and engineering at Reeves Pulley, retiring in 1989 after 45 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Burnsville Christian Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting and was an Indy car and NASCAR fan.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street, with the Rev. Bob Vance officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and noon until time ofservice Wednesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery, with graveside military rites by the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
Born Nov.12,1925, in Columbus, Mr. Malson was the son of Samuel D. and Minnie Bills Malson. He married Grace Denny on Aug. 3, 1946.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Rick E. Malson of Columbus; a daughter, Donna M. Dailey of Columbus; a sister, Margaret Ping of Columbus; grandchildren, Brian W. Thorpe, Bridget Hudson, Tonya Reed and Meghan, Devin, Kelsay and Kendra Malson, all of Columbus; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Basil, Claude, Harold, Merle and Marion Malson.
GRACE DENNY was born on 17 Feb 1929. She married EARL LEROY MALSON on 3 Aug 1946.

Ranny Simmons has Rosella VanDiventer as Lewis' 4th wife, however, if son Everett was indeed born in 1896, then it is unlikely she was his 4th wife. More likely, Rosella was Lewis' 1st wife. and they would've married prior to 1900.
A 1910 census records Lewis with wife Mary E. (possibly Ella). They had been married 3 years with no children born.
In the 1920 census, Lewis is widowed but his housekeeper's name is Nora whom Ranny has listed as his 3rd wife.
Grand-niece, Ludella Pittman Ebinger, reports that he was married 4 or 5 times.
