=====================CENSUS: [Source - Ancestry.com - provided by LeAnn McRoberts, Feb 2004]
1790 - Rapho Township, Lancaster Co., PA
Both a James Malson and John Malson are recorded in this census. For James under the column "All Other Free Persons" is the number 8, indicating eight persons in that household.
For John Malson under the same column is the number 2 with 1 recorded under Free White Persons Including Family, indicating 3 persons in that household.
Both of these men were born prior to Daniel Malson's sons, James and John. It's possible that this James and John are father and son or brothers of Daniel.
Also, this census indicates that there were 8 other persons living with James that could've been his family and may have included siblings. Warrants further investigation.
OBSERVATION: [By LeAnn McRoberts, Mar 2004]
I have come across 2 censuses: 1 for 1860 in Gentry Co., MO which has a James (age 69) and a Francisca Malson, and an 1870 in Gentry Co., MO for the same James (now age 79) and Francisca Malson. This James Malsons birthplace is recorded as Pennsylvania and these censuses place his year of birth at 1791. Could he have been the son of this James and a brother of Daniel? Could he have been the father of the mysterious second George Malson?
The 1790 census recorded 8 persons in the household of James Malson and since there is no further information it is next to impossible to know how and if these Malsons are related.
====================POSSIBLE BROTHER OR SON: [LeAnn McRoberts, May 2004]
I have come across a record for a PRIVATE JOHN MALSON on the "Roster of Ohio Soldiers in the War of 1812." He was listed in the following:
Roll of Capt. John S. Wallace's Company
(Probably from Hamilton Co.)
Served from August 23, until September 4, 1812It is possible this John Malson is the same John Malson in the above 1790 census. He could not be John Malson, the son of Daniel Malson, who was born in 14 July 1812.
Verification of his connection to our line is warranted.
They had the following children:
+ 2 M i DANIEL MALSON was born about 1770. He died in 1834.
